Adult Regular Cleaning (Prophylaxis):
A prophylaxis, often referred to as a regular dental cleaning, is recommended every three, four, or six months depending on presence or absence and level of inflammation. The purpose of prophylaxis is:
- Removal of plaque, stain, and tartar above the gum line
- Polishing and flossing your teeth for a smooth, clean finish
- Fluoride treatment (optional) for added cavity protection
- Oral hygiene tips tailored to your needs
Prophylaxis is essential for preventing cavities, gum inflammation, and bad breath. Regular cleanings help maintain your oral health and keep your smile fresh and bright. Please note that prophylaxis is not the same as periodontal maintenance. For more information on periodontal maintenance, please refer to section related to periodontal (gum) disease on this website.
